How a shed or deck tear-down goes

  1. Shut off and disconnect any electrical, water or gas going to the structure.
  2. Check permits: some Metro Detroit cities require a demolition permit even for sheds and garages.
  3. Strip what you can by hand: remove glass, roofing and anything you want to keep.
  4. Pull it down with the mini excavator, working from the outside in.
  5. Load and haul: grapple debris into the dump trailer and take it to the landfill or transfer station.
  6. Pull footings and level the ground for what's next.

Dump trailer vs. a roll-off dumpster

A dump trailer sits in your driveway only as long as you need it, doesn't need a city permit for street placement, and dumps itself at the landfill. Our 7x14 trailer is $100/day with a 3-day minimum, or $450/week. Landfill or transfer station fees are separate.

Safety note

Older structures can contain asbestos or lead paint. If you're unsure, have materials tested before demolition.

Demolition FAQ

Can I tear down a shed with a mini excavator?

Yes. A mini excavator is ideal for sheds, decks and small outbuildings. Disconnect utilities and check permits first.

Is a dump trailer cheaper than a dumpster?

Often, for small jobs. Our dump trailer is $100/day with a 3-day minimum or $450/week, and you pay the landfill fee only for what you dump.

How do I get rid of an old concrete fence post?

Dig around it with a mini excavator and lift the post and concrete plug out together, then haul it in the dump trailer.
